Description

This is a wonderful 1921 map of the Department of Gironde, France, published y Feret and Fils. It depicts the Gironde on a grand scale with color coding according to wine region and type. The map also notes several important towns, villages, rivers, canals, railways, and topography.

This coastal department is the seat of the Bordeaux wine region and produces many of the world's finest reds. Most maps of the Gironde reference the region's rich winemaking tradition, but this map actually highlights important vineyards and wine regions as well as offering significant supplemental data regarding the types of wine produced.

The map was published by Feret and Fils in 1921. Engraved by l’Institut Cartographique de Paris.

Condition

Very good. Some wear and creasing along original fold lines and near top right border. Right margin extended. Map is professionally backed with archival tissue for stability. Minor toning and spotting.
