Current Events Vol. XLIV No. 1. (Columbus: American Education Press) 1944.
Current Events (1902 - 19xx) was an American weekly newspaper published by American Education Press of Columbus, Ohio, for students in junior and senior high schools. Founded by Charles Palmer Davis (1859 - June 20, 1921) in 1902 as a way for his daughter and her friends to learn what was going on in the world. Eventually, Current Events became the most widely circulated school newspaper in the world, with millions of copies sent to schools around the country. It is unclear when Current Events ceased publication. We have found editions published into the mid-1950s. American Education Press also published Weekly Reader, a current events newspaper for grade school children from 1928 through 2012.
