Title

East and Gulf Coast Surfing Map.
  1981 (dated)     22.5 x 34.25 in (57.15 x 86.995 cm)

Description

A hard-to-find 1981 surfing map of the eastern United States by surf-journalist Allan 'Bank' Wright. The visually arresting map covers the eastern two-thirds of the United States from roughly Wyoming to the Atlantic and from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico. Well known surf sites are noted along the coasts. Three legends detail specific surf spots and conditions - content that remains relevant today. The map is surrounded by photographic images of the most famous surf spots and waves.
Allan 'Bank' Wright
Allan 'Bank' Wright is an American surfer, skier, writer, publisher, and ski/surf-journalist based in California. Wright is best known as the author of Surfing California, a 1972 surfing guide that remains relevant today. In addition to producing his own work, he also reissued out-of-print surf classics.
Publication History and Census
This map was designed by Allan B. Wright Jr. and published in Los Angles by 'Mountain and Sea'. Today the map is out-of-print, scarce, and desirable due in part to the fact that it remains as useful today as when it was issued. We note examples at the Library of Congress, Ball State University, the University of Illinois, and the University of California.

Condition

Very good.
