The Florida Keys Key Largo to Key West.
  1987 (dated)     19 x 25.75 in (48.26 x 65.405 cm)

Description

This is a 1987 Ad-A-Map tourist road map of the Florida Keys. Combining advertisements with a general map of the Keys along with street maps focusing on Marathon, Key Largo, Tavernier, and Key West, this piece provides essential information for travelers on the Overseas Highway.
A Closer Look
The Florida Keys appear divided in two on the recto. The upper portion illustrates from Ocean Reef Club on Key Largo to Conch Key, while the lower portion depicts from Duck Key to Key West. Southern Florida appears along the top border, with major cities labeled along its east and west coasts. Highway 1 runs along the east coast of Florida before being 'emboldened' at 'The Last Chance Bar and Package'. Mile markers are included and appear in 5-mile increments from Blackwater Sound to Key West. Keys are labeled all along the chain, and an index is included along the left border. The Intracoastal Waterway is marked by a dotted and dashed line. Advertisements are included along the bottom and right sides, with the portrait of a buccaneer appearing above Marathon Key to remind travelers to stop at Buccaneer Lodge.
Verso Content
Street maps of Key Largo, Tavernier, Marathon, and Key West occupy most of the verso. Street indexes for these four keys and indexes of attractions and points of interest fill most of the rest of the sheet, along with a few advertisements.
