Description

This is a 1936 Danske Landmandsbank (Danish Farmer's Bank) pictorial tourist map of central Copenhagen, Denmark. Published only a few years before the outbreak of World War II (1939 - 1945), the city's many gardens and parks are highlighted alongside museums, monuments, churches, and train stations.
A Closer Look
The map depicts central Copenhagen from the Peblinge Sø to the Vor Frelsers Kirke. Pictorial illustrations highlight the Kuntsmuseum, the Radhaus, the Botanical and King's Gardens, the Tivoli Gardens, and the Kastellet (Citadellet). Copenhagen's train stations and railway lines, as are several churches and other monuments, are illustrated. Arrows point the way toward the zoo, the stadium, and the airport. Roman numerals mark 10 branches of the Danske Landmandsbank, and the bank's logo marks its central branch.
