Description

This is a 1916 Hiram Harold Green bird's-eye view of Lake George, Lake Champlain, and the Adirondacks. The view depicts the region from Albany, New York to Montreal, Quebec, Canada and from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to Rutland City, Vermont. Beautifully illustrated, numerous cities and towns are identified all along the two lakes, including Glens Falls, Saratoga Springs, Lake Placid, Burlington, and Plattsburg. The steamboat routes through the region are highlighted in red, while several railroads are noted. The Sacandaga River, Mohawk River, Hudson River, and St. Lawrence River are also illustrated and labeled. The view is flanked on both sides by identical illustrations of a musket, ramrod, and powder horn.

The view is signed by Hiram Harold Green and copyrighted by A. A. Heard, both of which are dated 1911. The view is printed in a brochure for the Lake George Steamship Company and the Champlain Transportation Company that was published in 1916 and includes time tables, hotel information, and other information that would be important to the traveler.
