A Closer Look

Oriented towards the north-northwest, this view covers a portion of the Sierra Nevada in central California, between Bridgeport and Toms Place. The town of Mammoth Lakes and nearby Mammoth Mountain are highlighted near center, along with adjoining attractions such as scenic lakes, mountains, and hot springs. Nearby attractions, including Bodie Ghost Town (a state park), Yosemite National Park, Mono Lake, and Inyo and Sierra National Forest, are also labeled. U.S. Route 395 provides the main north-south route through the region. Illustrations depict people engaged in recreational activities, including fishing, hiking, horseback riding, skiing, snowmobiling, sailing, and off-roading.
