Description

This is a c. 1947 Tichnor Brothers view of Miami Beach, Florida. The view looks north over a crowded South Beach, with the historic Park Central, Majestic, and Beacon hotels conspicuously occupying the top left corner. Depicting the hey-day of Miami Beach, when stars like Humphrey Bogart, Rita Hayworth, and Clark Gable used the Park Central Hotel as a hangout, the interplay between Miami's art deco district and its renowned palm-lined beaches is highlighted. The beach and the skyline both stretch to the horizon, leaving the viewer to imagine just how special Miami Beach could be.
