  1967 (dated)     23.75 x 18 in (60.325 x 45.72 cm)     1 : 124000

Description

A charming set of maps of the Ocean Drive along the southern portion of New Jersey's Atlantic coastline from Atlantic City to Cape May. They were produced in 1967 by the Cape May County Bridge Commission, which operates five toll bridges along the route, and was printed by Laws Printing Industries.
A Closer Look
The sheet includes eight maps, with the largest at left providing an overview of the entire route from Atlantic City to Cape May. Towns and bridges are noted along the barrier islands that the Ocean Drive traverses, while further inland larger towns, airports, and major roads are indicated. On the water, bays, sounds, inlets, and islands are labelled.

On the right half of the sheet, plans are provided for Atlantic City, Ocean City, Sea Isle City, Avalon, Stone Harbor, The Wildwoods, and Cape May, interspersed with maritime-themed illustrations. The verso includes a larger-scale map of the East Coast between New York City and Norfolk, Virginia along with photographs and text touting the scenic beauty of the Ocean Drive.
Publication History and Census
This map was produced by the Cape May County Bridge Commission and was printed by Laws Printing Industries in 1967. An alternative printing (OCLC 1005141856) looks to have been published the same year listing Rand McNally as a publisher, but there is no indication of the company's involvement here. In either case, the map is held by about twenty institutions in the United States.

Condition

Good. Original fold lines visible. Three small areas of infill at fold intersections.
