Description

This is a charming c. 1939 Carl J. Christiansen pictorial map of Nebraska issued by the 'Game Forestation and Parks Commission' to promote outdoor life in Nebraska. State parks, national forests, and game reserves are highlighted throughout. Sportsmen, local monuments, images of flora and fauna, and more are illustrated in vignette form. On the verso, there is a wealth of information about Nebraska, Nebraska's state parks, and opportunities for exploring the great outdoors.
Publication History and Census
This map was designed by Carl J. Christiansen, and published by the Game, Forestation and Parks Commission in Lincoln Nebraska. The map is undated, but a note stating that the Elkhorn River Recreation Ground is under construction in 1939 suggests that date. An example is cataloged in OCLC and is part of the institutional collection at the Wisconsin Historical Society.
