Description

A very attractive c. 1915 bird's-eye view and map of the Panama Canal by I. L. Maduro of Panama. The sheet is divided into three sections: a profile view of the canal, a bird's-eye view of the canal, and a smaller map of Panama. The large Bird's-eye view dominates the map and covers about 50% of the page. The view covers from the Bay of Panama to lemon Bay. It identifies cities along the canal route as well as the locks themselves. The chart above it show excavations made by American and French authorities. Below the view proper there is a map of Panama. Test to either side of this map describe the Republic of Panama. The verso features 10 images of construction work on the canal. There are at least two states of the map, distinguished by the logo appearing in the upper left quadrant and the verso content.

Condition

Good. Folds into original binder. Some reinforcement on verso.
