1936 Booth Pictorial Map of Rhode Island and Narragansett Bay

This is a beautiful 1936 pictorial map of Rhode Island including the Narragansett Bay by Phillips D. Booth. It covers 'The Ocean State,' officially the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, including Narragansett Bay, Block Island, Conanicut Island, Aquidneck Island and Prudence Island. The map notes historical and modern day points of interests throughout including roads, railways, golf clubs, lighthouses, airports, parks, highways and a host of other features.

The map is beautifully illustrated with houses, forts, forests and scenes from various activities including horse riding, swimming, fishing, etc. The map features the Rhode Island coat of arm and is surrounded by 39 additional coats of arms and emblems of the various counties and towns. Eleven illustrated views featuring the Kent County Court House built in 1803, Court House in Bristol, Colony House Old State House, State House, Old Kingston Court House, Old State House Newport, First Baptist Church of America built in Providence in 1779, Slater Mill the First Successful Cotton Mill in America, Old St. Paul's Church, Birthplace of Gilbert Stuart and Old Trinity Church are also included. In the top right quadrant, a portrait of Roger Williams, the founder of Providence is also featured.
