Description

This is a c. 1890 Photo Engraving Company map of Vermont detailing the state's railroad network. Dashed black and white lines trace railroads, including the Missisquoi and Clyde Rivers Railroad, the Passumpsic and Connecticut Rivers Railroad, and the Bennington and Rutland Railroad. Major roads throughout the state are illustrated as well, along with individual towns (with borders). Lake Champlain occupies the upper left. Almost no detail is present in neighboring Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or New York, but some detail does appear in Canada - underscoring the importance of this international trade artery to Vermonters..
