This is a 1993 Grigor Beglaryan and Levon Travel tourist map of Yerevan, Armenia. This is one of the first tourist maps of Yerevan published after Armenia declared independence from the Soviet Union on September 21, 1991.
A Closer Look
Coverage embraces from Zovuni to Noragavit and from Argavand and Silikyan to Avan-Arinj. Streets, railroads, parks, rivers, lakes, and other locations are illustrated. Symbols mark forests, gas and service stations, movie theaters, museums, churches, mosques, hospitals, pharmacies, and metro stations. Other identified locations include the zoo, the television studio, a movie studio, and the botanical garden. An index on the verso lists locations throughout.
Publication History and Census
This map was created by Grigor Beglaryan and published in 1993 by Levon Travel (a travel agency that has specialized in American tourism to Armenia since 1960). This is the only known cataloged example.

Cartographer


Grigor Belgaryan (19?? - Present) is an Armenian cartographer and geographer. Belgaryan has published numerous maps of Armenia, beginning as early as 1993. He published the Atlas of Adjacent Regions of the Armenian World. Volume A, Western Part, in 2020, which is the first complete and comprehensive cartographic image of Armenia. Volume A includes 70,000 toponyms for locations in Armenia and Volume B, which will cover Eastern Armenia and the current Armenian states, will include 60,000 toponyms.
