Henry Wilson (1673 – 1741) was a British cartographer, author, mathematician and astronomer. He is memorialized only in his works, which consist mainly of instructional works on the art of navigation and specific instruments related to it. He devised a new 'globular' projection, patented in 1721, intended to solve problems associated with the Mercator projection. The new projection was described in his 1722 The description and use of that most excellent invention, call'd the globular chart. The publication of the 1728 Atlas Maritimus et Commercialis was intended to showcase the new projection. In addition to his navigational works, Wilson also produced a volume on the problem of correctly calculating the date of Easter.
